| problems reducing travel on Marzocchi DJ3 | Tore Jul 31, 2003 3:05 PM | | I'm trying to figure out how to lower my DJ3 to 110mm. Cutting the spacers works fine for shortening the main springs. The top-out springs have to be lengthened accordingly, so I'll get new ones, or just make 20mm spacers for them. But how do I get the new springs or spacers on to the damping-rod? One end is blocked by the flange of the rod itself, and the other end has what seems to be a press fitted alu flange. Can I just pull it off by force? Will I be able to attach it properly again? Please help me!
And for Marzocchi, what's the use in having well functioning products when the company has no respect for their customers, and their products obviously are designed by morons? Some guy mentioned the allen bolts on the lowers rounded because the were aluminum, but that Marzocchi replaced them with hex bolts now. That's even worse. The bolt almost fills the hole it's in, and it's sunk below the surface, so it's almost impossible to reach. I had to grind down my smallest 12mm socket to almost nothing to get it in there, and still I almost didn't get it on because of the hump sticking out of the bolt head. I had to make 3 different special tools to disassemble the damn thing. And I guess most people here know how difficult it is to reach Marzocchi. And the manuals have become useless as well. No service instructions, no exploded view, no oil levels, no nothing. If this keeps up, I'll never buy a Marzocchi product again, even if they work as well as they do. |
