| Need Judy internals advice | clubted Jul 31, 2003 10:03 PM | | Just bought a wonderful Bontrager RaceLite from original owner. The 97 Judy fork crown and stantions are original but he replaced the legs with Sids (actually kind of cool) and replaced the internals with Englund air cartridges with no oil damper. The cartridges don't hold air well, may be an early version, etc and I would like to replace them, although I don't have all the original parts I don't think. I have the original cartridge, some plastic washers but not all the parts per the owners manual, which I have. I'm no longer a big time heavy hit rider so 63mm travel is acceptable if thats what it takes. I'm kinda stuck on this one, any help is appreciated. Thanks. |
| re: Need Judy internals advice | globewyre Jul 31, 2003 10:53 PM | | I would check out www.angryasian.com he has some instruction posted on his site. I use to have problems with englund total air on my old judy. I would see if I could find the old speed spring kits or the old white brothers sping and oil kits. Maybe you can find them cheap on the net. If need parts for your judy you need to order from a dealer. Take my advice and use a small shop if you do this where you talk to the owner. 2 bike chain stores said they put parts for me on order and never did. Another optionis get another fork off of ebay. |
| sorry for the SPAM, but . . . | zuuds Aug 1, 2003 2:25 PM | | I have a NOS 1997 Judy 80mm long travel kit (cartidge and neutral shaft) for sale on Ebay for $20 (Item number: 3620500079). You can still get Eibach coil spring kits for that fork from Cambria for $17.

Thanks for the reply and yes, I saw it and was considering it. I think however I'm missing washers, etc that won't come with either kit. The manual is pretty vague on this stuff. Thanks for any advice and who knows I may be your buyer.

| Contact Eko Sport... | næstep Aug 1, 2003 4:55 PM | | These guys have top-notch customer service. Explain your situation just like you did here. The Total Air cartridges are easily servicable, although you should have one basic Eko provided tool that is a cheap piece of aluminum tubing with a serrated edge to help remove the cartridges. Best case scenario you'll just need the tool and a jar of Slick Honey and a quick clean 'n lube, worst case you might need some new O-rings and maybe some of their damping inserts that thread in to the internals to control compressand and rebound.
