| What is a good 10w oil for Marzocchi? | bikebrain Aug 1, 2003 2:33 PM | | I would like to go 10w on my Shiver SC, I have been using Golden Spectro 7.5w I tried 10w regular spectro oil in my Z1, and found that it caused the fork to be very sticky. I think the seal conditioners caused seal swelling. I was looking at Maxima oils as they have a cartridge fork oil that is 10w. I would like to stay away from bike specific fork oils, as I think the motocycle fluids are priced better, you get more for your money. I like to change my fork oil at least 3 times per year. Are there any good synthetic fork oils out there that perform like Golden Spectro, but come in 10w????
Thank you,

| Maxima is good stuff.... | Squash Aug 1, 2003 3:54 PM | | and the key as you said is cartridge fork oil. Cartridge fork oil is formulated to resist foaming so it is ideal for open bath and non-gas charged systems. It doesn't really matter much if it is synthetic or not, although syn oils do tend to be a bit more slippery. A good quality organic oil will perform just as well though. Where synthetic oils really shine is their durability. It takes appreciably longer to degrade the performance of a synth oil. However, as often as you change your oil it shouldn't even be noticeable. Try the Maxima I think you'll find it works quite well. It's my alternate choice if I can't find Golden Spectro.
