| Duke/Psylo/SID or Marzocchi MX/Manitou skarab? | 87682469942 Aug 2, 2003 12:36 PM | | I'm 155lbs looking for a replacement for my Jett XC fork (ala pogo stick). I'm looking to spend 3-$400 on a fork that can handle 3-5foot drops, yet weighs under 3.5lbs. I'd like to have adjustability, but it can be a set travel fork. I like the SID's but some say they are flexy and can leak. I like the Duke and Psylo series, but for the most part they are too heavy for XC use. Same goes for the Skarab and the MX.
Any suggestions? |

Duke SL w/ u-turn will weigh approx 3.75 lbs. Your not going to find a lighter fork that can handle bigger drops. I's also look into a 2002 Psylo Race (air). It weighs 3.6 lbs and can handle aggressive riding....travel isn't adjustable on the fly but can be changed from 3 to 5 inches |
| Psylo? | CulBaire Aug 3, 2003 7:46 PM | | Mmmm Personally I wouldd try the Psylo Sl or Race, there a good solid xc/trail fork. I love my 02 SL, it get's used for everying and I dont find it overly heavey for XC use, the inclusion of on the fly lockout (compresion dial) is a great feature to have on an XC fork.
Weight: your not really going to find a light weight fork that can handle drops, its a small price to pay if you ask me.lol.
I would go the Psylo (from experience) or the duke, make sure you get one with pure damping for the lockout....Or even go the Marzocchi equivilant MX, Marathon or what ever they are. It seems Manitou is missing something here, they dont really have a fork for this type of thing; the Black you say? Well it's near $1100AUD here, and is probably a little too heavy for XC (I'm guessing here guys)!
Thats my opinion Anyways!
