| Fox Vanilla or Marz Mx Comp Eta or Marx Mx Pro Eta? | joshe236 Aug 3, 2003 7:27 AM | | Hi, I'm in need of a new fork. I currently have a '01 Manitou Sx-lt, 100 mm fork. It's almost a year old on my '01 Specialized Enduro FSR. (I bought the bike in August of '02)
I've saved money up and I would like your advice.
Should I go with the '03 Fox Vanilla 125R or the '03 Marzocchi Comp/Pro with Eta? (If there is a major difference between the comp and pro?).
I do mostly intermediate/advanced XC, racing, on singletrack, roots, rocks, etc. If you're in S. Florida, I do all the local trails here, Markham, Oleta, Queit Water and Amelia. I'm not looking for a super light or a heavy fork. I'm not a big guy, 5"10, 150 lbs. 17 years old.
I've read mixed reviews and I'm not sure which one I should get. The Mx comp is cheaper by $80, and the Mx Pro and the Vanilla is $350.
Thanks for the help!

On the MX Comp, you have to adjust the rebound internally with a provided adjustment rod. The rebound unit on the pro is definitely an upgrade over the comp. I have the comp and like it lots, and it's a great deal. Also seems like all Fox forks are universally loved. Good Luck. |

When you're looking at Marzocchi forks, avoid any of the models that use SSV or SSVF dampers. Their other forks are absolutely great, though. |
