Hissing Fox Float RC shock(4 posts)

After six weeks of sitting still, I picked up my RM yesterday and the Fox shock makes an awful hissing noise on the rebound. Two questions:

1) Is this bad?
2) Can I keep riding on it for at least one more race? (I don't think I can have it serviced and returned before next weekend)

If this may help in the diagnosis:

- 6 weeks ago I raced in quite severe terrain. I suspected the shock was a little morenoise than normal then.
- After sitting still, the noise is lots worse.
- Rebound damping function seems to be normal. Only when I set the damping dial to full open doesw the rebound speed become slightly unsteady.

Thanks in advance for any advice/info!

became alarmed when I described that my Float was hissing. He settled down after I told him it was the fork and not the rear shock.

moral of the story : hissing from the Float fork (sort of a squishy hissing) is normal, hissing from the rear Float shock made my mechanic go into alert mode.

I know nothing about how much time you have, sorry.
Thanks anyway...€®i© Wi©to®

I'm setting the shock to be serviced. I suspect a nitrogen leak, so...

excellent service, even if post rates to UK are bit high. I recall that you are located in mainland Europe?
Tim at tftuned will service the shock same day as it arrives and sends it back asap.
