02 Duke SL Leak(2 posts)

02 Duke SL Leakcydown

I am a dolt when it comes to shocks:
I have an 02 Duke SL and recently the rebound on the shock has become a big problem. I notice when going off small rocks, etc. and during regular compression. The shock rebound is instantaneous.

I tried to adjust the air pressure and noticed a red/brown fluid spray out from the schrader valve. Figure that is not good.

Any input appreciated...
thanx

Red fluid from valve is OK if it is coming only when you press valve stem. It is RS Red Rum lube which is used to lubricate and seal air piston.

If your rebound control on bottom of the right leg has no effect it probably means that damping assembly has come loose. Most likely only yellow plastic thingy on top of the damper shaft is loose.
It's no big deal but probably you'll need to disassemble the fork. RS web site has manual for this fork. After disassembling the fork you'll find out reasons to consider other brands...
