| Oil height in Marzocchi Z1 SL: SUMMARY. | Mucato Che Oct 13, 2003 12:13 AM | | Hello,
reading old threads of this topic:
Shencycle "Oil level in '03 Freeride SL...." 10/9/03 12:39pm
nermol "Help! Marzocchi Z1 SL FR Oil" 9/25/03 5:48am
and this is my 'change oil' experience:
My fork made bottoms too easy, and I change SAE 7.5 oil with SAE 10.
.- I emptied the two legs, I obtained 110cc (right) and 5 cc (left... only?!)
.- I wanted to follow the Marzocchi instructions refering to the oil weight (Website and technical manual) but seams tht all the information of this fork is wrong. Any measure is correct because It doesn't fit in bottles.
.- Last week I asked to Marzocchi this question, but I don't receive reply...
.- Waiting the official reply of Zocchi, this weekend I put 135 cc (right) and 35cc (left) SAE 10 oil in legs, and the results seems correct, but perhaps be too much oil because I hasn't obtained full travell (16mm from the top) without hight drops (I will probe high drops, and then decide if there are too much oil).
And the question is: who does know the correct quantity of oil for this fork??
Tanks for all, |
| LOL... | Shencycle Oct 13, 2003 5:19 PM | | good effort...funny thing is I did almost the same thing....both contacting Marzocchi and the oil levels.....I used about 40cc and 135cc.......but I have not been able to test it yet either......Keep the posts rolling....we will find it eventually......!!!!!

do you tell me your experience when you test it? In my fork, with this level of oil I think that I lost a bit of travel, but I don't test it yet.
Thanks, |
| Thursday or Friday... | Shencycle Oct 15, 2003 5:51 PM | | I think I will be able to get on the bike...in just putzing around.....I think I might not have full travel either.....that would mean too much oil......I will post....soon!!!! |
| Thursday or Friday... | Mucato Che Oct 16, 2003 5:47 AM | | Perfect! I'm waiting your answer. Thaks a lot. |
| got a response from Marzocchi.... | Shencycle Oct 16, 2003 1:36 PM | | The oil level for the ECC side is 50mm from top of stanchion to top of
oil
compressed. Don't lose the little pin and spring on the top cap! The
negative side takes 65cc. of oil. You can't remove the top cap on that
side to do the oil heighth measurement.

I still have not tested it.....working too much....uuuuggghhh.... |
| tried it today.... | Shencycle Oct 18, 2003 3:34 PM | | I tried it out with out changing to Marzocchi specs....just to get a ride in....I thought the ride was pretty harsh....especially topping out of the rebound....a big clunk...and it really rebounded way too fast...and I am 200#'s....I am going to change the oil height in the morning.......good luck!!
So I assume the added oil led to an increase in the rebound pressure......I never was able to achieve full trave either........ |
