I'm considering upgrade my stiky 03 zoke exr. And I've been compared 03 black super and 04 fox float 100rl. The fox in my LBS seems a little bit stiky when I lightly push down on it, while butter smooth on black super. I think it must be the microlube so black is more smooth. Is it common on new forks? Will the fox be smooth after break-in period?

The Foxes are smoother on the trail than in the shop. The bushings get lubed by oil being forced through them when the fork is compressed. So when just sitting around in the shop they may not be as smooth when you press on them. Haven't ridden a Black, so can't compare, but the Float is much more plush than the Manitou MARS I had on my bike previously.
