Opinions Needed, Manitou Black Elite Re-Lube? (2 posts)
| Opinions Needed, Manitou Black Elite Re-Lube? | Egg Oct 13, 2003 10:02 AM | | I did a nasty muddy ride a few days ago and after noticed that my fork gained some stiction. When i fully compress and slowly let the fork slide back out it's not fluid, it's kinda skipping. Obviously i got some stuff down in there, so i lubed throught the microports and it seems to have gotten much better but not completely fluid. So my first question is....
1) once i ride and work the new lube around should that take care of it?
I called manitou and they said to take it apart, dry off, re-lube. I'd like to do it myself but am a little intimidated. i could take it to the bike shop and have them do it, i know what i should do to be 100% sure, just not sure if it's necessary. |

You can't get into much greif by removing the lowers for cleaning. It's only grease in there, no oil to spill out. Go at it from the bottom of each leg, once you've got all the bolts out the lowers just pull off.
