5th Element air or coil?(2 posts)

5th Element air or coil?Jordan

I'm deciding between a 5th element air or coil shock for my next bike... I want it to be an XC/trailbike (i don't do much freeriding, and no bigger drops than what you'd find on your average trail), but i do weigh 220 and am not impressed with the suppleness of my current air shock (cane creek AD-12). Do i go for the weight savings and get the 5th Air, or is it worth the pound and a half for the coil? The bike will be a SC Heckler, btw. Thanks.

I mounted a 5th coil on my Gemini 1000 and have never looked back. The stocker was a Float RL. We are the same weight. Go with the coil shock. It has more external adjustments, and at our size, is perfect. If you want to save some bike weight, go with a Ti spring. Let me know if you have any more questions.
