Converting C-dale Super V Active 80 to Active 100?(4 posts)

Converting C-dale Super V Active 80 to Active 100?Structure
Oct 17, 2003 7:43 AM
Has anyone experimented with increasing the travel of a Cannondale Super V Active 80 rearend? They came stock with a Fox Vanilla C/O R 5.03 length. Fox indicates that the Active 100 rearend sported a Fox Vanilla C/O R 5.75 length. For a while in the late 90s C-dale was making both the Active 80 and Active 100, and as far as I can tell, the frames were the same. I would like to try "upgrading" my Active 80 rearend with the longer shock, but would like to hear from anyone with experience on the matter.

I realize the longer shock would raise the rearend and bottom bracket. However, this should actually help the overall handling of the bike when mated with a long travel front fork.

Yes, it's possible !
The only thing to do, is to change the shock, for one with more shaft travel with the same ( or a little more ) eye to eye lenght.

went from a Float with 7.875" ete with 2" stroke to a 5th coil 8.0" ete 2.25" stroke. It only changed the angles slightly, because the additional travel resulted in more sag as well. Go for it.

I'd like to try it, but so far both Fox Racing and Cannondale haven't offered any specific advice. I don't really want to slap down $225+ for a shock that *might* work...

But thanks for the input. I'll repost if I ever get it to work.
