I think I am going to pick up a firefly. It is lighter by about a pound even with manitou's weight fib. And the travel adjustment to me is more useful because on the firefly you go from 5 inches to 4 inches, rather than 5 inches to 1.5. The only thing I am worried about is durability and the seals. I hear durability is pretty good on the firefly but the seals are a little lacking. I also hear that you should service the firefly every 6 months or so to check up on things. I know you are supposed to do this with ALL forks but some of you Z1 owners can't honestly say you do that everytime. heh. Anyway I want to hear from someone with experience with both the forks as well. I hear the damping on the sherman is better too. Oh and how much of a difference will the new spv make?
It seems very difficult to get specs on 04 Manitou...Mario

I'm also looking at the 04 Firefly but can't get any info on it. I think the travel adjuster is not the same as on the 03. It is supposed to be a knob that you turn like on the Psylo and it will go from 130mm down to 90mm. Jensonusa has them on their internet site and they list it at 5.2lbs which is almost impossible, the 03 was 4.5lbs and I would be surprised if Manitou would have made a heavier fork that was a winner in 03. Anyway, my suggestion is to wait a bit more time because eventually some info on the 04 should pop up somewhere either on this forum or in a magazine... It's too bad people who went to Interbike did not write info on it...
As far as weight goes maybe they are just coming cleanwicka

The actual firefly I think weighed in at about half a pound more which would put it at what you say they are specing the new ones. I am really torn between two things. Whether to wait for the 04's or get an 03 for cheap. And whether to get the z1 fr qr20 or the sherman firefly. They both underwent some changes for 04. The z1 is heavier but supposedly more durable. The sherman is supposed to break the tradition of manitou frailty but I don't know if I am convinced. Some one help me please.
