Shock for a 99 Element Race(1 post)

Shock for a 99 Element RaceKW Smith

The Vanilla Float R damper blew (again) but it's out of warranty now. I'd rather put the money it'll take to service it into a new shock, especially since it'll just blow out again.

Initially I was thinking about a coil-over shock for the plushness and reliability, but reviews here of the Cloud Nine are pretty compelling. Maybe it's the bike design but the rear end gets pretty harsh on fast, chattery bumps and I'd like to smooth that out, if possible. But I like the idea of an even lighter shock since the bike's already a bit heavy for what it is.

So...I'm not sure which way to go and thought I'd check with you guys for advice. Most of my riding is on SoCal XC trails and, being an old fart, I walk the really tough sections. No jumping for me, it's just a trail bike.

Thanks much.

Kevin
