New fork options for Epic Comp(3 posts)

New fork options for Epic Compyetirich
Jan 13, 2004 6:59 AM
Greetings,
I have my Epic Comp frame already to build up but need to make a decision on a front fork. It has been narrowed down to the 04 Manitou Black SPV or a 04 Marzocchi Marathon SL. Any opinions on what the board likes? I will have pics in the next week or so of the final build.
Thanks in advance
Why not Marathon S?Axe

That nice dual coil feel. Aren't you a man enough to lug an extra pound around? :) Also, IMO ETA is better then ECC.

Given the choice - Marathon. Or any Marzochhi with an ETA feature. ECC on SL was not to my liking compared with the simplicity of ETA.

And why a guy with a "yetirich" handle did not buy AS-R instead? :)
I sceond that--get last year's for cheap, too.SDizzle

SL models are awesome, but a bit futsy. Decide whether you want simplicity or adjustability--don't base your decision on weight or the like.

The Black will be a lot stiffer. Also, the Black will have more travel for a lower axle-to-crown, so you could run a 100 mm without skewing the geometry any more than the 85 mm Zoke. ...That said, the 'quality of travel' on the Zoke will be better, and the reliability cannot compare.
