Looks like rain, and I only have panracer fires for the race this weekend. All of the reviews say that this is not a good mud tire.

What is the best mud racing tire??? Help
I have same dilemma!!Glenn

I have the choice of a Mythos XC, Panaracer Trailblaster(2.1), Hutchinson Python(2.0) or Pamaracer XC Pro(1.8) Based on the reviews I think I will definately use the Trailblaster for mud shedding, but dont know what to use for the front.
Try Hutchinson alligatorsjwldoc

I like the hutchinson alligators. The gold version is a bit heavy at 700g, but they work well in wet, mud, and loose conditions.

clean tire and coat it with 2 layers of Bike Lust (also rims, frame, pedals). This ususally helps to fight mud.

Green Michelines (WildGripper Lite S or Comps) make good mud tire, but they tend to be a bit slippery for first 200mi before knobs bed in.

also Hutch Mosquitos good luck
I know they're heavy but I like theAndyE

WTB Velociraptors. I saw them in 1.95 on universalcycles
What ever you do DO NOT go with mythos they turn into slicks
I hear thin is in...odofile

I've heard good things about the 1.8 Hutch Mosquito for mud purposes. I live in texas and we USUALLY don't have to worry about mud but we've gotten a bunch of rain in central areas and the fall race series just started...

i love my mythos xc's, and have ridden a full british, always raining and very muddy, (including a race held in almost a foot of mud) winter, and the year so far on my 2.1's. the main problem i found is that the tyre has a knurled texture between the knobs on the rear, and soft soily claggy type mud tends to stick before flying off when you accelerate, which slows you down. as my tyres are fairly old now, the knurled bit is worn down and doesn't suffer from this problem anymore.

Specialized s-works extreme 1.7JustinTime

I used it recently and it hooked great and shed just as well.
Caveat: it's a $50 s-works tire, so save up...
depends on the mudshiggy™

but the best all-round mud tires (still on the market) are the IRC Mud Mad 1.95 (front & rear set) and the Panaracer Fire Mud Pro 1.8
