Trackstand help.....I need it!nigey
Feb 13, 2002 5:43 AM
So for the past couple of weeks I've been trying to do a trackstand. I spend 5-10 minutes everyday in the basement seeing how long I can do it.

My current average is about 2-5 seconds (pretty bad eh?) and my longest has been about 15 seconds. I'm getting frustrated that I'm just not improving much. I've tried lowering my body to the frame, changing pedal position, sticking my knees out more, etc, but all of these things just don't seem to work.

Has anyone got any advice? Should I be practicing for longer periods? should I be changing my bike setup (i.e. lower the seat initially? Lower tyre pressure?) What about technique -turn the wheel alot or a little? Variables I can think of: seat height, front wheel angle, tyre pressure, arm/leg/body position, crank position... or maybe I just need to keep on practicing? (well obviously).

Any thoughts or comments on how you've successfully learnt how to do a trackstand appreciated! It might be the little tips and techniques I'm missing that help me the most.
