| Would smokin crack 10 minutes before a race improve my speed | the dude Feb 16, 2002 1:26 PM | | I'm curious... I have an opportunity to get ahold of some crack cocaine, and I'm wondering what kind of an edge it would give me in a race. My chances of being drug tested are just about nil. |

| No | Sofa Feb 18, 2002 2:24 AM | | The benefits of the crack would be worn off by the time the race started. Cocaine is what you're looking for. The adrenaline would last about 30-45 mins, however, would your motor skills and thought process be hindered too much for racing? You'd have to try it out on a regular ride first.

| nah | binary visions Feb 20, 2002 8:01 PM | | No, it really won't. It'll screw up your coordination and thought processes too much anyway; you don't want to be screaming through a rock garden and find out too late that you aren't quite reacting as fast as you were the day before. Cocaine isn't any better - the high doesn't last long enough for it to see you through the race, and you don't want to be on a bike when you crash down from the high.
I've got a friend who smokes a little ganja before his races and he claims it helps him ride better. I doubt it, personally, but whatever gets you through the race. I think the only "recreational" drug that might give you an edge is dexadrine or the equivalent. Coke is a type of speed but dexadrine lasts longer and you don't crash quite as hard at the end of the high.
Really, though, drugs probably aren't a good thing to mix with racing. And crack isn't really a drug you want to play with anyway. |

all the pro racers are at it: have you seen a pro's forearm recently? so many holes it's like a goddam collander. |
