Get set for a surreal, incredibly cool experience. Also - that log pile you clean without thinking during the day all of a sudden looks like the Great Pyramid at night.

Tips: tape your battery into your bottle holder. It's no fun losing that thing if you crash. Use the 12 watt on it's own as much as possible - kick over to the 20 only when you really need it. This way you'll conserve your juice.

Carry a spare flashlight - you'll need it if you have a mechanical or run out of juice. Use a flasher on your rear so other riders don't plough into you and so they can find you in case you get a bit separated.

Pretty much what Gary said.

Riding at night is definitely different. My advice is only ride for the first few times on trails you know very well -and with someone if possible. It's incredibly easy to get disoriented and veer off into a bad situation. Also, take it easy -depth perception is harder at night -go cautiously until you get used to it.

And just for kicks, halfway through the ride when the moon is not out, turn off your lights.... a bit scary to consider trying to find your way back without lights.

Go slowly, take your time and enjoy.
