|   Trainer + BigGears = Muscle Weight Gain? | jase
Feb 23, 2002 6:29 AM | | I've been doing winter training on a mag trainer for couple of years now and I've found this year that I find the time on it unbearable even with intervals/music etc. So I've been pushing bigger gears for less time (40 min) I'm burning the same amount of calories and eating the same as when I did more spinning, but I find I'm gainning weight!!
I've put on about an extra 5 pounds and the only thing I can see is
that pushing these gears (53/12) is creating more muscle and putting pounds on. My weight has gone up but my body fat % is the same.
My only real concern is that this is 5 more pounds I'll have to lug up a hill. Is this possible and has anyone else experienced this? Input is appreciated. |

Feb 23, 2002 10:10 AM | | That would be unusual. To get muscles to grow, normally they must be stressed with very high weight and low reps to near failure, not aerobic activities like time on the trainer. |

Feb 25, 2002 9:01 AM | | I'm guessing it's fat, not muscle. It would be REALLY unusual to put on enough muscle to weigh using a trainer. Shoot, I've been lifting all winter trying to put one pound on each pec, and I can't even do THAT. |

and workout except for changing tension and gears. I'm looking to just make it through the winter (about 1 more month) without
putting additonal weight on. CHANGING DIET DRASTICALY!.
