Does anyone use Endurox R4 or the pills Endurox or Enudrox Excel? From what I understand R4 is a recovery drink for after excerise, whereas the new drink Acclerade is a during excerise drink, but both have the 4 to 1 carb to protein ratio. The Endurox pills contain the herb cijuwa 800mg which is supposed to increase endurance by burning fat more than glycogen. Endurox Excel is just a stonger version with 1200mg. Does anyone use these products and if so could you post your opinion. Thanks in advance.

IMHO, Endurox R4 (the drink mix) is the best recovery drink on the market. 4:1 carb/protein ratio has been proven to be the optimal ratio for recovery. All of the Endurox products are part of Ed Burke's (endurance/sports nutrion expert) brain child. For the best results, drink it within 30 min of finishing your workout. If you want more info, I highly suggest you check out Edmund Burke's book "Optimal Muscle Recovery"

After reading it, I gave Endurox a try for about half a season. As far as using it for a performance drink, I don't think it worked as well for me as Cytomax does. However, the info in the book has definitely helped me balance my diet properly for both training and recovery.

I've used R4 for a year now and can't believe the diff. it has made. i recover quicker from hard workouts and as I drink it during rides it also helps fuel me. I mix it at half the recommended concentration for when I'm riding and full strength for recovery. i believe that if you look at the ingredients, Acclerade is just R4 by half.
Great if you can stomach itmtnbkaz

I was impressed by the research behind it. I tried it last year but couldn't stomach it. At full strength it is a very chalky tasting drink and I just couldn't get it down. I drank about 200 mils and had to go back to Gatorade and real food for recovery. I may not have the 4:1 ratio down perfect but it's close enough.

And you can get it at health stores! Surely cheaper than buying Ed's miracle pills (if that's all they contain)!

As far as recovery drinks are concerned, I'm going to try Endurox during my racing season. But it's too $$ for my tatstes the rest of the year! So I designed my own drink with the 4:1 ratio, using Milk, frozen fruits, Soy protein, wheat germ, whey powder and Honey! It tastes really sweet (you get used to it), but gets the job done! I figure I'll just use the endurox in the week before my races and right after the race to recover!

Hope this helps!

I've used Endurox as a recovery drink with good results for the past year. It's been brought to my attention that the Ciwuja has been removed recently because of health concerns about Ginseng. Take a look at containers with expiration dates 06/03 and before versus dates beyond that. The dates beyond 06/03 don't contain Ciwuja(Siberian Ginseng).

I've used Endurox R4 for recovery for the last two seasons and I think it works--I didn't notice a massive change but I'm pretty happy with it. I certainly believe in the Burke's theories.

As far as Accelerade goes, it seems to be Endurox at 1/2 strength minus all the vitamin C & E. I think the vitamins are unnecessary during exercise and might act as an osmotic diuretic somewhat which you don't want (just my own unproven theory--I've got friends that race with it and love it). Don't use Accelerade--it's my secret weapon and I'm tired of the competition switching to it.
