| how much do the top pro xc riders weigh? | Joey xc uk Mar 16, 2002 5:14 PM | | I read somewhere that mig martinez (yeah, i know he probably rides road now) weighs 60kg and cadel about 65kg
Is this true? How much do the top pro's weigh
cheers
A perverted weight freak (or just someone bored) |
| Le petite prince | alFred Mar 17, 2002 1:43 AM | | is only 53kg (163cm) and Cadel is 64kg/174cm. Miguel grew/gained some weight (I think he was in 45-50kg range when he won first worlds). Still his weight/hight index is 1.8lbs/inch no wonder he is very good climber.
both of them ride for Mapei now http://www.mapei.it |
| Le petite prince | Super Clydesdale Mar 17, 2002 12:14 PM | | Most top XC riders are malnourished with legs thinner than my wrist. When they pass me in a race I usually give them a disdainful flick with my thumb, and they go crashing off through the forest. I'd like to see one top XC rider - just one - bench press just the bar. No weight on it, but just the bar. I saw Cadel Evans in a race once, and I swear I could see his heart beating through his jersey. They should put that guy on display as a skeleton in a human anatomy class.
Sorry, just a bitter Clydesdale who never wins races. Oh, to answer your question top XC racers usually weigh about 110 lbs soaking wet. |
| Roland | mtnbkaz Mar 18, 2002 6:56 AM | | I thought that I read that Roland weighs about 160-165lbs.? There are other pros who are larger (although not on the podium) but I think it's amazing that a guy Roland's size can still whoop Cadel & Miguel on the climbs. |
| Roland | IcemanG17 Mar 18, 2002 8:28 PM | | Roland Green weighs 162lbs (according to the article in MBA)....he is 5'10"....Lance Armstrong is also 5'10" and weighs 158lbs....so you don't have to be a midget to climb well....the key is power to weight ratio....for example both Lance & Jan Ulrich put out the same power at LT...but Jan weighs about 15lbs more...thats why he gets smoked by Lance in the mountains

| awesome job! (not post related) | fsrazracer(scott) Mar 19, 2002 4:27 PM | | Hey there mtnbkaz,
Yep, that was me responding to your post a little farther down. I just got back from Boston, so I didn't get to respond earlier. Awesome job last saturday, but honestly, I'm not surprised. You had an awesome time (fast enough to get me scared into training real hard again). I remember you were pretty fast on that course during the d.d. race (like always, you took off like a bat outta hell!). I have only ridden four hours since estrella. I got a sinus infection, followed by an ingrown toenail that had to be removed (not fun), and then a 5 day trip to Boston, hopefully I will either get back into shape or you'll break a chain again. Are you back in the lead for the series? Have you decided to bail on s.v.? If you want to pre-ride it, you and your wife are welcome to accompany me and my friend paul down there on a saturday...I definately want to get down there at least once before the race (assuming that my wife does not go into labor on the day of the race or the day before, I'm pretty sure I'll be there on race day). shoot me an e-mail if you want to plan a pre-ride: jen_scotts@hotmail.com. later, s. |

| re: Le petite prince? | alFred Mar 20, 2002 2:03 PM | | Yes this is how french fans passionately call him "the little prince" after Antoine De Saint-Exupery timeless book.
It is obvious you've never heard neither about Saint-Exupery or Little Prince, narrow minded homophobe with room temperature IQ. |
| re: Le petite prince? | Super Clydesdale Mar 20, 2002 7:05 PM | | It figures the French would come up with a nickname like "Le Petite Prince." The French have been getting steamrolled by the Germans and British for over a thousand years now. They couldn't defend their country against a pack of Girl Scouts. When the U.S. declared war on Afghanistan, France immediately surrendered.
I'd like to see what "timeless book" Antoine De Saint-Exupery would write about me if I bunny hopped my Rocky Mountain Slayer onto Le Petite Prince's skinnly little road bike, mauling it like a hungry pitbull attacking a pound of ground chuck. |

| 150's... | truant8 Mar 23, 2002 12:52 AM | | Ned Overend and Tinker are about 145lbs, but MBA had the lists of about 15-20 pros a couple of years ago, I was curious so I averaged them. If I recall it was somewhere around 5'9"-5'10" and 155lbs. Those were cross country guys, by the way. |
| re: how much do the top pro xc riders weigh? | Choda Mar 25, 2002 8:48 PM | | Sweet!! Finally chance has dealt me a good card! I'm 5'11" 158 pounds and I think my power:weight ratio is pretty good. My bro who weighs over 200 lbs. puts out 350 calories on a stationary in a 20 min. session whereas I can put out 320. For 40 pounds that's not bad. If I ever get to the 350 mark then I'll be something! But that's at least a season away... |
