Wow, just gotta say wow, UST Python on HT.SJ

I figured the USTs would make for a softer ride but in reality I was pleasently surprised w/ more than what I expected. The ride was super plush and the traction was superb.
I was just riding tubed Trailblasters 1.95 42psi rear/front-40. I put a Python rear and Mich Comp S up front. The very same line i was taking w/ the Trailblasters and slipping on uphill wet root rock i eased over w/ the Pythons w/o hardly a spin, 32psi.
I'm sold out on USTs.

I'm not trying to dismiss your experience. Does anybody know if it is different with tubeless. I'm a pencil neck 6'1" @ 160. Run Kujo's 25 psi or less, Moto and V-raptors around 28, also serfas @28psi. hardly ever ever pinch on new england pointy rocks, roots, logs. Rims get side-dinged all the time. 'been thinking about UST for next wheelset. Do the fatter rhino lites help aviod pinching over slimmer rims?

SJ, how are you buddy?! I just made the switch to CrossMax UST and have been even more than pleased. In our small spring series, I just earned my third podium finish in Expert. Last week a second, but nobody really showed. This week, another second - and I put multiple minutues on guys who used to really hurt me. I changed the bike from a Racer X to a Klein Adept (much more efficient) and I've picked up the intensity overall. But, the UST's really help to maintain speed through corners, technical climbs, etc.
Good luck to you and congrats...
Justin
It's not the tires bro.SJ

It's you! What have you changed in your training? Our series has'nt even started yet. I cant remember, are you in FLA?
I've been parenting and doing my best at interval work on the bike inbetween bouts of children colds and viruses.
Way to go hammerhead!

well, I moved to enter graduate school full time. This doesn't allow much more time, but more flexibility. I started lifting weights again (off for the last 3 weeks due to knee strain, though), I started cross training (running, running stadiums... UF has a big field...), my endurance rides are longer (about three hours), and I started doing much more purposeful mashing (pushing big gear on flats and hills to develop more musculare endurance).
Other than a bad flu I just contracted from my girlfriend, I've also been healthy: sleeping an extra hour, eating better and no downtime for illness.
That's it. Keep up the good work and try to work in a 3+ hour endurance ride every week.

Sounds cool. Ive been squeezing in some good two hour plus hill rides in the backcountry, mostly climbing. Great workouts. The biggest change ive made is going almost all vegan. A huge difference in the way i ride and feel. Ive lost about four lbs, down to 151. I need to drop a bit more gut, about 2-3 more lbs. I'm supplementing w/ soy protien which keeps my body from eating away my upper body strength.
Over the winter i was doing squats and lunges which has really, really improved my leg strength. I can climb like a goat, esp w/ these USTs, i can tell im powering up the hills in bigger gears w/ less effort. Maybe all regulars can hook up one day! Keep in touch. I'll be down to FL maybe this Christmas.

I've used the UST system for a year and a half. Btw 175-180 lbs, 30 psi front, 32 rear. ZERO flats since I've bought them, and I don't hold back in the technical stuff. Believe it or not, my Hutchinson's are still good for another year, and that's with ~ 300 hours/year of riding! Bought a set on Trailblaster UST at discounted price to see if lighter weight & mud shedding will make an awesome system even better. Repumping the tires daily is little concern for the performance gain (and frankly, it's good practice to check pressures before a ride). My only concern is the my front Mavic ceramic rim is chipping, with maybe another year of life left.
