Efficient time on the trainer.......any time to short?(4 posts)

Efficient time on the trainer.......any time to short?KMan

Quick and should be an easy question, is there any time on the trainer that is too short to be effective?

When I'm on the trainer I usually spend between 1.5-2 hrs continious time w/ no breaks. This season since I am trying to gain an additional 1-2 per week training time and have decided to get up early and spend 1 hour on the trainer 1-2 times per week. Will this additional time or an hour be of any effect or would it be better to suck it up and do just one longer early morning ride at 1.5 hrs?

Thanks
KMan

If you're trying to build a good base, IMO, every hour helps. nd an hour is a good time to get some aerobic riding in and stretch a little after. I never go shorter than an hour with any of my rides, personally I don't see the point of that. But yes, do all you can and you'll be faster for it! :)

My trainer time is usually 45 min and I find that this does have aerobic benefit.
I sometimes use the shorter w/o times for cadence drillssbxcguy

When I'm pressed for time (work or family demands) and I have to be done with my w/o in < 1.5 hrs, I do cadence drills. I think you are following Friel?? If you only have an hr or so, do the S1 and S2 workouts. You can probably get in 4-5 sets of each in an hours time incld. 10 min warm up and cool down. I try and do this once a week so I don't have to mix them in with the endurance stuff (my endurance riding is anything > 1.5 hrs). Just another idea...
