Anyone tried kettlebell training??Dr. Jekyll

I was looking at getting into kettlebell training. Everything that I have read makes this seem like an ideal training methid for cyclists. You get lots of strength and endurance without all of the bulk of conventional weight lifting. The compound/olympic type movements look like a great way to go for all around fitness. Thanks in advance.

Go to www.dragondoor.com. You will find huge support for kettlebell training. Also, www.myodynamics.com is a decent site, with good articles on fitness and training in general, not necessarily about kettlebells.

I personally just do powerlifting...dumbell bench, deadlifts, clean and press, and squats. 2-3x a week. I am hesitant to get into kettlebells unless I had a personal trainer to help guide me. Let me know how it goes!

I bought the video that Pavel did for Dragondoor so all of the movements are shown, I wouldn't do it without seeing them first either. I have a kettlebell on the way so I was wondering if anyone has done it here. Just want to see others experiences since there's no telling who's on the Dragondoor discussion board, could be a bunch of employees you know.

I've been lifting for years, and I'm just looking for something new. Most of the kettlebell movements are olympic/powerlifting type movements. The unique aspect is the fact that the weight has momentum outside of your grip, something that barbells and dumbells don't do.

It's supposed to have an awesome effect on the joints and all of the smaller muscle groups that stabilize the weight. Everything I've read says great things about strength and endurance. It emphasizes strict form over momentum to move the weight, since you are only using one arm at a time. That is the best/safest way to train.

After my bell gets here and I get a month or so on it I'll post about my experiences. Another appealing aspect from what I've read is that you don't too bulky with kettlebells, you just get hard. I already carry a lot of leg from speedskating, the ultimate cycling cross trainer.
