Jan 3, 2003 6:32 AM | | Just cashed in a holiday gift certificate and have a Polar A5 on the way. After reading some of the reviews here I have noticed a few mention interference between the HRM signal and wireless cyclocomputers.
Anyone experience this? I run a Cateye cordless on my MTB and a Vetta RT88 wireless computer on my road bike. Needless to say, I am not too excited about the prospect of unhooking my computer to use my new HRM...

Jan 3, 2003 7:01 AM | | I've never had interference between a HRM and another computer - just interference from a strong electro-magnetic power source. HRMs and most popular wireless computers (like your Cateye and Vetta) should not share the same frequency. In fact, I've never had much interference at all with the HR interference. All of the problems that I've experienced have been with speed and cadence sensors. One of my road routes runs on a street where you ride alongside of large power lines for about 5 miles. My speed & cadence often goes haywire at this point but HR stays accurate. (I use a Polar S710 system, FWYW.) |

Jan 3, 2003 4:21 PM | | i had that exact same problem years ago with a cateye wireless and a polar heart rate monitor. seems the pulse from the chest strap transmits to the cateye and gives a very false readout. the solution is to have a hard wired cateye. |
