One reason is the amount of force--you're likely to push harder climbing those little steep spots. But the increased flex is also a problem. He told both me and my daughter to keep our seats high and our gears low. |

I did steep hill climbs, jumps, and sprints. They took their tool on my knees. No permanant damage, but most days, after an hour my knees would throb and hurt. So in my oppinion, if you are climbing hills seated for extended periods, set your saddle (at lowest) so that your feet can toutch the ground flat within a 1/2 foot of your bike. Or use your quick release. |
