1up trainer users: Any tips?(6 posts)

1up trainer users: Any tips?sjt78
Jan 15, 2003 8:32 AM
If the tracking information is correct, I should be receiving my 1up trainer this afternoon. I wanted to find out if there are any set-up tips users of this trainer could provide. I know directions are included, but I'm looking for anything else people could add. Wish me good luck in getting rid of some of this winter flab I've accumulated:)

My only *clean* bike that I have is a single speed (my geared bike is still filthy from late season riding) which has a bolt-on axle so I'll try their skewer when I clean my geared bike. I only rode on the trainer for about 10-15 minutes last night, but I already know it's a keeper. Thanks

and watch TV, listen to some tunes, or whatever. That trainer is awesome! I got one after two years of listening to my wind trainer and WOW, no noise! Best trainer I've ever seen or owned.

The instructions aren't all that clear, imo.
The trainer doesn't "lock" your bike in, i.e., there
is no audible click when it "locks". Also, your
particular trainer's foot lever may not quite reach
the 6:00 position *without* a bike in it (mine didn't).
The instruction manual stresses that the lever must
be in the 6:00 position for the bike to be locked in
but mine is totally locked in closer to the 7:00 position
than 6:00....

It's a nice unit. Haven't had mine for too long but it
works as advertised. You'll probably want to increase the
resistance (follow the instructions to do that)...

good luck!

I'll definitely permanently set it up in a place where I can listen to music. I know I'd get incredibly bored if I didn't. Even listening to headphones would be better than nothing.

The set-up was a little tricky because they provide extremely small pictures on their instruction sheet. If they were a bit larger it would be better to tell what to do. I got everything work alright though. I only rode for about 10-15 minutes late last night, but it felt very stable when I tried sprinting so I'm happy. I'll try to dedicate some time this evening to further fine tune it and get some riding time in.

BTW Norcalrider, my trainer will reach the 6:00 position without a bike in it. I also was looking to hear an audible click, but I guess it just presses tightly and that's it. I just set it up where there is some resistance when it hits the 7:00 position and even more at 6:00. Thanks for the heads up though.
