| Need New Front Tire For MUD | Whitey Dec 25, 2003 8:56 AM | | Hi, all. Just finished a ride yesterday where my front tire loaded up with clay-type mud so much that it would not turn. I currently run a WTB Mutano Raptor 2.4 in front and a Panaracer Firepro XC in back. I like the big size in front but need to switch to a tread that does not load up in clay/mud. Thanks in advance for your suggestions. BTW, I ride in the Santa Monica Mountains in SoCal.

| Everything packs up in sticky clay... | shiggy©® Dec 26, 2003 5:50 PM | | ... and your current tires are some of the worst.
Your best bet is a narrower tire (for fork clearance) with a spikey, open, wide spaced tread like a Schwalbe Black Shark Mud 1.5 (very narrow tire). The Black Shark Mud 2.1 is one of my current favorites. The Maxxis Swampthing 2.1 Is pretty good, too.
