Any Southern Cal races this winter?Patchito

Vail Lake still has last year's schedule on their website, so I'm assuming there aren't any this year. I don't know about Southridge, but I don't care for that Fontana course anyway. Anyone know of any races this winter before Vision Quest and Sea Otter in March?
Maybe just 24 hour races..Pohukai

which I'm not sure about since GrannyGear's is suppose to be at Vail Lake and 24 Hours of Adrenalin in Idyllwild April 3/4.

Vail Lake has postponed all of it's day races due to some legal issues but I don't know how or if this affects the Granny Gear races.

Trilife, that runs the race in Idyllwild is filing for bankrupcy, so who knows what will really happen here.
Question about FontanaHT

I was also hoping to do the Vail lake series, but saw the Southridge series and just decided to do that one. Having never done any of that series, what is it that you don't like about Fontana? What's the course like?
Big rock technical....Pohukai

and kind-of ugly. Parts of the course are littered with sofas and rusted cars which make for an ugly ride.

I live 5 miles from the course and have only ridden it once. I decided not to race it primarily because the big rocky technical sections I knew would be too much for me at race pace; however, fine for good ride.

It is difficult to find anything better than Vail Lake although I hear the promoter of the Fontana race is FANTASTIC.
Question about FontanaTopaz

I think the Fontana race is great. They've removed the "big rocky section" the last few times I've raced the XC course. It isn't the most "attractive" course but its fun and worth the money at $25. It has several short steep climbs, lots of technical singletrack, some flat sandy fireroads, ditches, and accesible location. Beginner is 1 lap, Sport 2 laps and Expert is 3 laps @ ~8mile/lap. They're great for training races.
I think the other responses summed it upPatchito

When I did it a couple of years ago it was like racing on an extremely technical landfill. At the time I didn't really have my bike set up the way I like it, and after my first endo into a pile of rocks I had a less than enjoyable time. Too bad about Vail Lake, cuz that was actually a pretty fun course.
Not winter, but they will have a 12hr and 24hr down in ensenadamoab63

I've never done a cyclocross, but this one looks fun and I've always wanted to do it, so this may be the year.

www.celopacific.org for info and a flyer.

The problems with Vail Lake are a real bummer. I'm the beginner champ in my age and was looking forward to getting my a$$ whooped in expert.

Since you live so close and haven't raced there in a while maybe you should give Southridge another try.
