i got a free box of the raspberry & cream powerbars and they're pretty nasty. they're edible....if there's absolutely nothing else available and you're in danger of immediate bonking.....but i'd hardly call them good.

personally i prefer chocolate.

performance has powerbars on sale right now (box of 24 for $25 i think) if you're a team P member

If I remember, you need at least a full water bottle just to wash one down or else you gag. Dry, chalky and tastes like dirt regardless of flavor. There's probably a hundred other bars that do essentially the same thing - give you about 250-300 calories, at least find some that are edible. I personally like Zone Perfect bars, especially strawberry yogurt and fudge graham, and because they have a some protein and fat, I can use them as a quick meal replacement if I don't have time for breakfast or lunch. I even eat these Luna bars. Yeah, I know, they're for chicks, but they're maybe the best tasting bars out there. Oh don't forget Clif
Bar's chocolate mint - yummy.

...due to the fact there is milk (whey) in them. I stick to gels (for races) but bring Cliff bars, bananas, granola bars, fruit to go, etc for long rides/xc skiing.

Love the stuff. Can easily eat a whole one without a drink, but usually do drink with it. Will down at least a couple on a long ride.

Will go the Gu route or similar if racing, easier to get down, quickly, when red-lining it.
acctually the harvest double choclate bars are amazing ...laotsu42
