Periodization and Ultradistnace Question(1 post)

Periodization and Ultradistnace QuestionKaparzo

Coming up on the start of my training season I have a question about my plan for the season. I plan to ride in all of local race sereies races and maybe a few other misc. ones, along w/ the Mt Snow NCS. All of these are the regular two-three hour race that periodization prepares you for (base, build, peak). I am also doing a 60 mile MTB race in Jay Peak VT and a 50 mile MTB in Ascutney VT. I was wondering what your thoughts were on training for both regular distance events and a few long distance events. I am planning to do one monthly ride of 75-100 miles with a 150 mile ride (or back to back 100 mile ride one weekend) appx. 2-2.5 weeks before the race. Will the intervals and other stuff used for reg. distance help in long distance. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
