How important is the cool down when training?rockhound

How important is it to do a proper cool down when training, say on a trainer as this is where most of my training is done. If I ride for 90 minutes and do a 10 minute cool down I might not have time for the entire ride. But if I do a 90 minute ride with no cool down I might sneak it in? How detrimental is leaving the cool down out?

Probably important, but rarely ever done properly. Even at races, I don't see riders cooling down. Big finish, and then stand around yapping with other racers. I think for stage races though guys cool down.

I do try to get 2 minutes minimal of slow riding at the end of a ride, and 5 if having just done intervals. Wait until the heartrate and breathing calm down. Easier to do if riding outdoors.
