Sometimes I wonder the value of squats, particularily on-season. However, I still pound them out: twice per week offseaon and once a week on-season. Recovery is often tough in both instances, but psychologically they feel so good. Due to many years of playing rugby, my legs are plenty strong enough for Mtb racing, but I am just addicted even though their relative value is sometimes in question.

The only value I see is doing high reps to failure (15-25), without tearing too much tissue. What do you think?

on whether or not they are beneficial, but one thing most agree on is that they shouldn't be done during the season. If your legs are plenty strong, get rid of em and do more on the bike power training (unless you are entering a squat competition).

Questionable benefits from strictly a biking strength perspective. I think they are beneficial from an injury prevention perspective though.
