How much winter training is to much.(1 post)

How much winter training is to much.Jonathan

I was looking forward to getting in shape this winter for the spring.
My plan included lifting wieghts and doing spinning classes.
However, a few guys a ride with says burnout occurs when training to hard during the winter. One guy siad he trained very hard during the winter and when the spring came he was so burned out he had to take of 10 days. Some guys said spinning does nothing for you? How can this be?

So here are my questions.
I am a trial rider but most of my buddies ride fast and hard and I cannot keep up with them wheezing for air and legs giving out.

1) How days a week can I do a spinning class, is 3 times a week every other day to much?

2) What type of wieght training should I do for legs. I do not like squating.
