Titanium rotor bolts for Hayes discs?(4 posts)

Titanium rotor bolts for Hayes discs?40 Acres

I recognize that trying to shave 20 grams off of a braking system that weighs nearly 2lbs is silly, but I can't resist the temptation. The stock rotor bolts are M5x13.4 button heads. The closest matching M5 titanium button heads that I've been able to fine are 10mm and 16mm long, respectively. 10mm seems too short, and 16mm would probably hit the spokes(I'm running King disc hubs with the bolt on adapter). I've found socket head bolts in the correct length, but I think that the heads would brush against the fork. Any suggestions? Also, has anyone seen a Ti rotor for Hayes brakes?

Hi:
I use M5 semiespheric-headed ergal bolts on the rear hub (Magura Pro front & rear), but on the front, these bolts touchs my SID.
Last week I bought 6 old Xtr pulley wheel bolts (old=cheap!).They have a minimal head (2mm height vs 3mm)...no problem even in muddy conditions.
I´ll cut them to the right length and I also need to continue the thread.
Difficult? No if you have the right tools!

Un saludete.

Thanks. I had exactly the same problem with available bolts. Plenty of clearance in the rear, but up front they graze the fork. I don't have access to a machine shop, so resizing and threading pulley wheel bolts might be out of my league. Thanks for the advice.
