Wow, SantaCruz Xlight frame for $500? (4 posts)
| Wow, SantaCruz Xlight frame for $500? | Al Nov 1, 2001 3:39 PM | | Has anyone built the SC Xlight clone frame set from Supergo for $500? Very curious about how it perform? Weights only 5.5lbs with rear shock. Total bike could easily be built below 22lbs for half the price of a retail Santa Cruz Xlight $3400+. |

| Weight is bogus. No trick to making a heavier, cheaper frame. | Bianchi4Me Nov 2, 2001 4:49 AM | | Gent actually weighed one at the Supergo store, and it was 6.5 for a medium, not the 5.5 pound claimed weight. Might still be a bargain for the dough, but it's no "clone" of the real SC, which tips in as light as 5.3 pounds in an anodized finish. No trick to making a cheaper frame, if you can build it over 20% heavier. Still, it should be possible to come in with a decent total bike weight for a reasonable price. |
| ano or paint? | Burnt Nov 2, 2001 11:00 PM | | Do you know if the frame he wieghed was paint or anodized? I've been eyeing that frame on supergo for a while waiting for word. They advertise both types of frame finish, both are blue. I thought that painting can add quite a bit of wieght compared to ano? |
