| I don`t like velcro... | nino Nov 2, 2001 8:19 AM | | I don`t like velcro straps.they just can`t be thightened enough and they wear out fast.i prefer my SIDIs over everything else.the pair i use on my MTB is 3 years old and still ok!i bought a new pair anyway but now i use them on the road.i didn`t like the road shoes where the cleats are too exposed and make it hard to walk around.SIDIs fit like a glove and last forever.

| Nino, ditto on SIDI's | scc Nov 2, 2001 1:51 PM | | I'm using Dominator 3 MTN and Genius 3 on my road bike, same fit, like a glove. Tried Specialized Team's, too wide. I also use nylon toe spikes on my Dominators! Have to change 'em out every now and again, but that's OK. The steel spikes weigh 25 gms pr, my nylons weight 1gm pr. Rotating weight....right?
I run Time ATAC Carbon pedals on my road bike too, for double sided entry, I just use it for training and commuting. |
| Hey JbW | Psychler Nov 2, 2001 8:03 AM | | About the tire combo you mentioned below....I too live in your area...Long Island...I am looking for an effective, light tire for "our" terrain.....How is the new combo you use? I am currently using Specialized Team Master/ Control....they are getting scarce to find and expensive.....I need a confident, light tire.... |
| To be honest... | JbW Nov 2, 2001 8:23 AM | | I am not sure yet. I bought them in California last week on vacation. Right before I left for the West coast, my '99 Marzocchi Superfly blew apart again (3RD TIME). You know our terrain and that it is not very demanding. I was going to do a drivetrain upgrade but having rebuilt my fork this week am wondering if I should just bag the senseless drivetrain project and buy a new SID SL. The issue is that it wouold eat up my bike budget for the next several months. So I have not ridden the new combo yet as my bike is forkless. I'll post a quick review after I have ridden them thought. My only possible concern in retrospect is that the Pythons may well not hook up as well as the Mosquitos on our looser trails. But time will tell. |
