Nino - Nigel, liquid latex tubeless: what PSI? (2 posts)
| Nino - Nigel, liquid latex tubeless: what PSI? | scc Nov 2, 2001 1:44 PM | | Wanting to get my bike to 19.8 lbs without putting on any non-reliable parts, the tires being the last frontier, and needing knobbies, I opted for some non-UST Conti tires. I got some Conti Twister pro's, kevlar, 460 gms, and will be running them with 50g of liquid latex solution. I weigh 160 # and will be using them on loose/rocky hardpack and fireroad xc racing. What psi is optimal? I've been using Michelin WG Comp S UST's at 29 psi, should I run these at 40 rear, 37 front? |

37, 40 psi is a very average tube and full tread tire set up. But, in my opinion that is going a little to low for your average sub 450 gram tire. Also, ive seen a few super lightweight Continentals get their sidewalls blown out really easily. So, I think that you should look to put to 40 front, 43 rear. That is what I run for dry conditions trail riding. Going below 40 is a little too low in my opinion. At your weight, [which is mine also], you should have plenty of traction.
Wow, 19.8 is pretty light, considerign your pretty sweet parts package.
by the way, at my work today I walked in and was blown away when I saw eggbeaters, sitting in the pedal cabinet. They really are sweet, I checked the weight to be exactly 290 grams, and on the box it says that it comes with a 2 year warranty [which makes me wanna buy them so much].
Also, we got an SLR evolution in [no padding], man it feels bad. I dont know how anyone one but a time trialist could use it. Anyways, I checked weight, came to 123 grams.
Also, I weighed an XT 9 speed cassette, 11-34 to be 290 [spotless though, no lube weight], and an XT 11-34 to be 260. Ive been running an 11-32 XT, but I think its time to get an 11-34 now that I am gonna be running a double in the front, [JUST LIKE YOU]
Also, I think that Ill get another pc-69 chain, do you think it is a better choice then Dura_Ace?
Anyways, talk to you later SCC |
