| Ok people, are there any Ti or Alloy MTB cassettes that... | AZ X-Racer Nov 5, 2001 5:35 AM | | ...actually WORK? Besides the 260g XTR, are there any treated alloy or titanium cassettes that offer that range of gears that are closer to or less than 200g? Are they available NOW? Do they actually shift well?
Thanks for any info in advance. |

| 11-32t or 11-34t is what I'm looking for... | AZ X-Racer Nov 5, 2001 6:06 AM | | Thanks, I'll e-mail Cycle Dynamics...
I know about Dura-ace (194g) and XTR (260g). I'm looking for a cassette that offers a 34t, or minimum 32t as the largest cog that's closer to 200g--that actually works! I also know about the Stronglight 11-32t Ti cassette. It costs $187.00--OUCH! Not unexpected though... Any experience with this one? Any others with that gearing range? |

| What about Action Tec...11-32... 8 or 9 speed in Titanium... | clary. Nov 5, 2001 7:13 AM | | Titanium Cog Sets include a special non floating, sealed cartridge bearing jockey pulley. This pulley plays an important part in the smooth shifting of the cog set. The pulley's hub is bolted solid to the lower derailleur arm. The sealed cartridge bearing is pressed onto this hub, then the outer wheel is pressed onto the outer race of the bearing. This design totally eliminates any side play even if the bearing wears a little.
Action-Tec's 11 Tooth Titanium Cog is included. This little beauty drops weight and kicks your gears up a notch. When we first made this 11 tooth cog, you could only buy 12 and 13 tooth first position cogs. It comes with a special spacer for 7, 8, or 9 speed Shimano compatible cassette bodies. It's constructed as a one piece lockring and cog. You don't need a steel lockring with this cog.
Action Tec Titanium Cassettes
Feature the unique "Shark Tooth" design. This tooth configuration needs no shifting ramps, delivering flawless gear changes with or without high pedal power as when climbing and downshifting. With non gated cogs, the cog will not grab the chain and make a ghost shift. The cogs are separate from each other. This transmits power directly to the hub without the need for a spider. This allows a change of any cog due to damage, wear or a change in your gear ratio, without changing the complete cog set. And, with the "Shark Tooth" design, every tooth has a point, not a flat on top like other cogs. So when the chain makes a shift it can't ride the top of the flats, delaying the shift. It drops on one side or the other, completing the shift. 8 or 9 speed. Sizes: 11-28, 11-30, 11-32 210g/11-30 8spd

| Yeah... | AZ X-Racer Nov 6, 2001 10:39 AM | | Thanks definitely to Clary for that super post with all the Action-Tec info! Unfortunately, I don't want to have to modify my derailleur for optimal shifting and the weight saved doesn't seem to be enough to warrant the cost. Maybe if there were a smokin' deal though... |
| german INFERNO CNC`d Aluminum 11-32 : 146g... | nino Nov 5, 2001 7:44 AM | | I had the 13-26 on my roadbike and it worked flawless.shifting is on par (!) to shimano.they have machined shifting ramps.durability in the dirt is for sure less but for races it`s a big weight saver.add 5g for a aluminum lockring. 11-21t = 90g 12-23t = 109g 13-26t = 126g 11-32t = 146g (price is 270 Deutsch Marks BUT you get 16% "discount" because of the already included tax!so it will be about 120$) remember that when ordering from Europe that they have to DEDUCT TAX which is already included in all advertized prices!in germany that`s 16%. http://www.inferno-laufraeder.de/seiten/shopneu.html

| german INFERNO CNC`d Aluminum 11-32 : 146g... | AZ X-Racer Nov 5, 2001 8:03 AM | | Is that $120 US dollars? I tried contacting these guys through the web based email form and it didn't work. How else can you get in touch with them without calling Germany? Do they have any distributors or can you get this at a retail store? I'm very interested...
I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one who would like to get their hands on one at that price if it is available and works as well as you say. I'd also like to find out from them about the possibility of producing an 11-34t variant...
Thanks. |

| re: Ok people, are there any Ti or Alloy MTB cassettes that... | Ty Nov 5, 2001 7:24 PM | | My question is will this german INFERNO CNC`d Aluminum 11-32 cassette fit onto my Rolf Propel Tubeless (2001) without much hassle? And if it does should I pay heed to the following warning that came with the instructions?: "some Rolf rear wheels use an aluminium alloy cassette carier as part of the freehub mechanism. Do not use cassette with individual steel cogs on alloy cassette cariers as they may damage the carrier. Use only cassettes with aluminium spiders joining several cogs together" should I be concerned, I am currently running a XT (should that be 'an' XT????) Any help greatly appreciated Ty |
