How important is weight distribution?bonker

When I get through with my FS rig, obviously the rear is going to be heavier than the front. Is this a desired thing? It seems that the center is going to be the heaviest though.

more weight on the rear means more grip on the rear.that will help get some traction but on steep uphills the front end can be too light and start to loose contact...
too much of weight either front or rear isn`t any good.you`ll have to get that leveled with more body english, thus moving the riders weight fore and aft.
also very important is a low center of gravity.this helps in ALL situations.FS bikes have a higher BB therefore also the center of gravity is placed higher.
traction and uplift is control not weightErnie

Moving your weight is more important than the few grams on your bike!
We are talking about promiles bodyweight/diff bikeweight

So practice more!
put a short stem on your bike and you will have problems...nino

you are right that body movement is the main factor here but a wrong weight distribution such as a too short stem might lead to a problematic ride.your front wheel won`t have enough weight and therefore your wheel will slip more easily in corners and on steep climbs you will have the wheel lifted too easily too.you will have a hard time to compensate for that.but you are right:a few grams more to the rear don`t matter too much.the correct riding position is the main factor.
