Nino, when will you change to disk brakes? (4 posts)
| Nino, when will you change to disk brakes? | Batas Jan 16, 2002 6:46 AM | | I´m just curious. This is, what set of disks, in your point of view would be better than V´s? (wheels and brakes) |
| i have discs on my MX bike - no discs for my MTB... | nino Jan 16, 2002 11:02 PM | | I have even oversize rotors on my MX bike but still no discs for my MTB! I`m still happy in how my V`s perform.by keeping the cables fresh and riding ceramic rims i don`t see the need to upgrade.I have yet to find a disc that is stronger, lighter, easier to maintain and cheaper than my V`s are. for weight saving purposes i will go back to regular, non ceramic rims this year.I don`t ride in the wet so there is no need for the added stopping power ceramic rims provide.that would also be the only real advantage a disc brake would have over the V`s but hey-i rode all my MX carreer in whatever the weather was, sometimes in deepest mud...no more.if the trails are muddy i ride my roadbike on the street. by going with discs you have to get heavier wheels,a beefier fork (my SID would be flexed in all directions with the added force the discs create)...added weight is a NONO for me if the advantage isn`t really there. no disc,no fullsuspension for me. |
