Didn't mean to leave any of the common posters out, but this is for everyone who visits this messageboard.

I'm thinking of adding a section to the webpage, http://lightweight.8m.com, that has "Reader's Rides", where basically I'll have a pic and a full list of components of the bike for each person. Then when your sitting at home wondering "what _insert part_ does _insert weight weenie god_ have?" you can go to the webpage and find out.

All I need from each of you guys is a pic, and a list of components (preferably with weights, but not required). You can either post it here, or e-mail it to me directly (jdalidd@uci.edu) which would probably be easier for both of us (easier to attatch pics).

As for AZ X-racer and anyone else who has already posted there bike recently, just give me a message that you want your bike on the webpage.

Thanks,

-Jonas

P.S. thanks to Matt Schiller I have 100 more pics of components on a scale to upload to the webpage!

but would my 27lb 5" travel FS rig fit in? Prolly not

Although I am working on my race bike for next season. Projected weight of 19lbs even and still able to support my fat 230lbs ass. Will be done in March......

Your bike doesn't have to be ultralightweight...JD

Tim,

I would like to get as many bikes as possible, so send me your info on your FS rig. I'm not sure about everyone else, but I'm interested in what kind of components weight-weenies spec., even when the bike isn't ultralite. Plus, I think you'll find a lot of the full-suspension bikes on this list are 25+ pounds, not everyone has endless money to spend on their bikes...

Thanks,

-Jonas

I made a "standard" using excel, and I'll put everyone's components in that format, so bike to bike comparisons will be very easy.

Here's how AZ X-racers bike would look.

Sounds good. I have some updates to make fairly soon though...AZ X-Racer

You can go ahead and post that if you'd like. I'll send you an update within a week or two. I'll also be posting the updated parts list to this site with some more pics of the me on the bike taking some jumps and/or corners in Star Pass, and possibly on the trails of Mt. Lemon.

sounds good. I need a couple more weeks though to have everything finalized...I'm in the middle of upgrading everything...weighing every part down to the aluminum elbows right before the v-brake, and the rubber boots after the elbow. I have an excel sheet, with component, weight, my cost, retail cost, country of origin of each part) and totals...and I''ll get pictures of the completed bike...but yeah, I'm interested...my bike hopefully will be close to 18 lbs. even.

Hey JD,

Here are some recent pics of my 19.1 lbs custom Ti Seven disc-only singlespeed. Despite it being not only a singlespeed, but rigid, this is my XC race bike (Expert/Elite).

...and here's a list of components with their actual weights: http://www.geocities.com/ti_guy.geo/seven_ss.html.

Unfortunately, I snapped the non-driveside Morati crankarm 2 weeks ago (I'm only 135lbs) and they are going to be replaced by:
- FSA Carbon Pro crankarm, 175mm, standard, 5-arm, ISIS: 415g
- FSA Ultimax Xtreme Pro Ti, 68x113: 158g

My old set-up was:
- crankarms (Morati, 175mm, standard): 325g
- BB (Phil Wood Ti, 68x119): 188g
Total = 513g

Weight gain: 60g (0.13lbs)

But, this additional weight will be equally offset by a lighter rear singlespeed disc wheel based around the new King SS rear disc hub:

Also, I'm going with the Flite SLR saddle (135g) and EggBeaters (290g), so that should drop another total 160g of my Flite Ti (225g) and Ti ATACs (363g). But, I'm replacing the Formula B4s with some Hope Minis, which will be a further weight gain of 0.25lbs. So, the 19.1lbs listed should stay roughly the same with all the new future weight gains and losses.

Mike B.

what's the tire clearance like ?
what about the Time ATAC upgradewc
Jan 17, 2002 8:32 PM
the one that Stan has available? I think he claims Carbons can be dropped to around 285g. If you want to try the Eggbeaters just for the sake of trying them though, by all means go for it. Otherwise, all reports (so far) are that the upgrade works nicely. Here ends my unsolicited opinion.

axle kit from Stan, and they will drop to around 285-290. Easy install, and works great. $75 I think was their cost. Of course, there will be a ti axle in the future for the Eggs I am sure!

Sounds like a good idea - I'll email you my component/weight list.

The Sugar 1 is currently in bits all over the garage floor, so it'll be early Feb (hopefully) when it's all back together.

Received my Singletrack Solutions bar ends today. Very nice. Very light. Seems like they will work well, but only time will tell.
