Just got some Titec Porkrind grips... Yikes! They ARE lite.AZ X-Racer

Only 20g WITH the plugs-and I haven't even cut them down for my SRAM Shorties at all. I totally believe the claims of 16 and 18g after cutting that I've been seeing now...

I feared that they would be like the cheap foam you see on department store bikes, but the material is very dense. They are much more comfortable than I expected them to be, and they are saving me about 46g from the Bontrager grips w/plugs I was using. Now I'll find out about the durability--especially here with the Arizona sun. If they last a season/year, it will definitely be worth the price for that much weight saved. I wish every saved gram were that cheap!
how do they compare to the richey wcs ?20.100

and that oh soooo comfy cork/rubber blend is nice. Its also nice that they don't swell up with water like foam grips do. Also the fact they have solid cork/rubber ends for the last inch of grip area means you don't need seperate bar plugs and they also act as bumpers if your bike drops sideways in a crash.
WHERE DID YOU GET THEM?cyclejim

The corkies that is....?
Well... the short version of the story is I sell them....DeeEight

but I got my first pair at an LBS years ago, loved them. Then later when I opened my own mail-order bike biz I was fortunate enough to get an account with a distributor that has a few hundred pairs in stock still. :)

Anyways, if you'd like a set, email me, they $10/pair.

I gave SS_Mb-7 a free set a year or two ago, not sure if he used them ever but if he did perhaps he can share his opinion of them. Some people do find their a tad thick in diameter (ie, folks with smaller hands).

when you click to reply to a message, the username of the person you're replying to shows up highlighted in blue. If you click on the name it opens an email composition box. Everyone who registers a username on mtbr had to provide an email address afterall, and the guests have to provide one for their posts so...

I'm not sure that I will cut them at all. As for water making them swell. I doubt that they would swell much at all (even though that is almost a joke to consider in Arizona) becuase they are extremely dense as I stated earlier. I'll keep you posted though and maybe toss some water on them just to make everyone happy... ;-)
I've been using them for 1 monthJD

Yeah,

Aren't they incredibly light for being so "dense/hard". Mine weighed in at 14 grams!!! They did a good job of making them a very tight fit, so tight that I didn't need the hairspray trick, they are on there for good. So far I really like the vibration damping that the foam gives.

I took a little while to get used to the hexagon shape (I'm used to circular), but I'm ok with it now.

Thanks for the update JD...AZ X-Racer

I was very skeptical at first, but the hex shape actually fits very well-a bit like the old Ritchey grip design--once you rotate it to the right position for your hands and fingers. I can't wait to try them out on a few rocky trails. The only thing that worries me a bit is that they are a bit thicker than my old grips. I got thin grips, and later gloves with no padding (Axo Descend) because my hands and forearms were becoming too fatigued from using padded gloves. Hopefully, it was mainly the old Pearl Izumi padded gloves. We'll see...

Had them before, but disliked the griplevel, so I gave them to my mom for her groceries bike.

Later bought for my lightweight hardtail project, still don't like the grip, but it's acceptable. They will stay on till they die.
Ha! Your mom is sporting some ultra-lite grips now... ;-) (nm)AZ X-Racer

...if Jan makes it a habit of throwing on all his discarded high tech/light weight parts on his mom's bike, she's probably got the sweetest grocery rig out there. Hey Jan, maybe you out to get her a titanium basket to round out the package.

Can't get her convinced to convert to Stan´s. She thinks she doesn't need it, maybe 1 flat every 2 or 3 years...

Titanium basket? Maybe easier and lighter to glue oen together with carbon plates. And ulu hangers.

Would be a cool project, make a minimum weight bike that looks like a tank.
