I wonder if the weight is realistic, and how it will perform. I don't like flexy SIDS, so I'm LOOKing for options.
At least this one LOOKS cooler than any ShID.

BTW, weight claimed in a brochure from Veltec was 1195g.

This is a real rigid fork. The best one with disks, by far ! There's nothing wich can be compared to it a this weight. Real weight is 1440g.
The new version (cobra, 2001) is on bearings, so this added weight (about 150g) but there is no more trouble on the pivots (old ones developped play).The carbon is made by look, but it has been designed by a french engineer, fournales.
It's very smooth and has a unique constant trail and anti bobbing kinematic.
Travel is 80mm.
There's an integrated stem if you want. 180g, with 3 lenghts and adjustable angle !
I'have ridden it a couple of time. really impressive. only problem is the price...
I'm going to buy one for my incoming project anyway.

My best friend had it on his s-works last year and sold it after just 1 month.
big problem was that the setting was a bit off:you either had a fork that blew through the travel and bottomed out easily but was sensible over the small stuff or you had a stiff (!) racers setup with no compliance over the little stuff but enough bottoming resistance.I`m an ex motocrosser and know how to setup any suspension but there i simply had no idea how to get that fork to work properly.

stiffness wasn`t worlds better either.My friend went back to a proven SID SL and couldn`t be happier...

the weight is 1280g in SIZE S!there are several diffenent lenghts according to your steerer tube lenght.the big size my friend needed was about 1450g if i remember right.they don`t have just longer steerer tubes but also different leverages so that adds to the weight.mounting the fork was kind of a pain too...

I am wondering if you are going with the Am Classic 420 wheels? I was considering this wheelset along with the HED 3's.

as i wrote you already:
I will get a pair of FRM hubs (70g/190g) and lace them to those deep 420g shook rims using Sapim cx-ray spokes.that way i will get a lightweight aero-wheelset at around 1350g (using more than 16/20 spokes!I might make them 24/24.make sure to get the spoke count according to your needs.I think 16/20 is definitely too weak and might work with very lightweight riders only.)

the Amclassic/Shook wheelset doesn`t use bladed spokes.with the bladed wheelsmith you add some weight and they don`t come in black which i would like.I definitely want
bladed spokes in a road wheel.

you might check with Bianchi4Me for those FRM hubs too...
