Okay Wheelbuilders, can you help me with this? The Squeaky Wheel

Enjoyed reading the posts below about wheelbuilding & tension. Wheelbuilding is the one thing I don't do myself (out of fear), but am getting ready to start, without a tensionometer.

My current problem....
I switched to Stan's system a month ago & have been enjoying running my tires at ridiculous pressures without pinch flats. I unfortunately have discovered the downside to low pressures is rim damage. I noticed some bad flat spots on the sidewall. Straightened them out as best I could and trued the wheel. It's not race ready, but still very serviceable and I don't race.

Unfortunately, I can't get uniform tension on the spokes at this point while keeping it in true because of the sidewall damage. One spoke in particular has noticeably less tension than the others, but if I try to tighten it the wheel wobbles.

I will eventually change the rim, and increase the PSI, but what's your advice for now?

Thanks,

Squeakl

......and they are -

1. Change the rim.

2. Don't change the rim and keep riding and hope it doesn't get much worse. It probably won't but then it might. I'm sure you'll have reasonable warning before anything drastic happens.
