Anyone running coil forks? I made modifications to my x-flyDIRT BOY

for now until I fine a lighter alternative. I cut med marzocchi springs 1/2 and stuck them in my X-Fly. Man what a differnce in ride! There is no more stiction and added only 175g. I tested a Marathon 80mm, SID SL, Mars Elite & Fox Float 80.
The Sid was too flexy for me personally, Marathon was nice and was smoother than my X-Fly and similar feel to the SID but stiffer and the Fox was really nice. Pretty sooth for an Air Fork but just two heavy right now. I have riden a Fox Coil and really liked it alot. Fox is making a lighter coil and air fork soon. This is were a feel that function in MORE important than weight when it comes to race performance.
I think I might just go for the Mars Elite or my FrankenFly until a stiffer coil/air fork it the market. The Elite felt REALLY nice but I would like a fork with bigger sanctions but TPC is the best in dampining right now with Fox right there.
Persoanlly I love Marzocchi (being Italian myself)but this Elite or a lighter Fox coming soon might change my mind. I just need a fork that can take 3-5 day Epic rides with ZERO problems and that seems to be the Marathons forte and still light!

Any thoughts?
Should I go coil in the Rear when I go FS this summer?
Have you tried a Mars Comp Coil yet?AZ-X

Those are supposed to be pretty good too. I haven't had a chance to ride one yet, but they may be contenders. Let us know how they are if you do.

Fox IS rumored to be working on a lighter fork. I would believe this--especially with people like Alison Dunlap being sponsored by them now--but I would not expect it to be available this year unless they have a mid-year release.

The "FrankenFly" sounds interesting. What was your total ending weight and how much travel are you getting?

I jumped a 3 foot drop and got the fork basically to bottom out.
I runnning 40mm from the top in oil and 30psi in the fork. It's not total weight weenine light but preety good for me.
This fork seems to come in about 100gr lighter than specs weight. I weighed 1546.75gr un-cut. I have ride a sm frame so fork was cut short.
Coil on rear for yer FSeric wictor

I have been debating the same thing but can't be bothered to but another shock. See it this way: if your FS damper has a lockout, at least you'll be able to get home and to the nearest bike shop to buy a new damper if this one dies!
