I've just heard some info on what looks like the lightest disc brake set ever - Formula B4SL Magnesium.

It's got a new lever which has a reinforced area underneath to strengthen the lever body, new "dogbone" adjuster snap-in fittings,
new phenolic pistons with 12% more power and intercooler holes in the caliper.

Factory claimed weights -

Front - 295 grams, rear - 280 grams (160mm & 140mm rotors)
Total - 575g per set.

Old B4 - 340grams each.
Total - 680g per set.

That's a saving of 105g per pair.

The old B4's actual weight (weighed by me) was only 37g over the factory claimed weight so the new SL's have the potential of being very close to an actual 600g per set.

That was one of the main reasons that I stayed away from them and went for the Martas instead. Like I and others have said, you can't stop progress of disc technology...

Yummie!

And that is only the weight saved in lever+caliper, I understand? I´m pretty sure there are no Magnesium rotors on it, hehe...
So, add some of Stan´s magic al rotor, and you´re lookint at... sub-500g? Will be hard to stay away from discs that way, such a setup will blow away my untuned Avid Mags by a nice margin!

Okay, the costs would be incredible for the little weight savings and brake power, but sometimes a man´s gotta do what a man´s gotta do.

Waiting anxiously for pics and more details!
