Disks almost as light as V's?some dude

I noticed AZ-X's post below- BTW that is going to being a tight ride- and it seems that the weight he posted for the brakes with calipers, rotors and bolts was only a few grams more than Avid SD 7 Ti levers and V cantilevers if you include cables. Are my calculations wrong?
You're right...AZ-X

but, if you are planning to switch to discs, you may want to wait until later this year because the rumors are flying that Magura will be releasing a Marta "SL" that will be under 600g and Formula will be offering a new B4 that are reported to be under 500g for stock pairs! Other companies, including Hayes, will also be releasing lighter disc brake sets.

Imagine adding aluminum rotors to THOSE. You will be lighter than most V-brakes in existence right now. They should put my modified Martas to shame. I told people that it would take a year a few months ago. It seems that it didn't even take that long...

Thanks for the kind words about my soon-to-be bike!
Acttually I think that the new B4s will still be in the 600g....AZ-X

range as well as the new Martas. The sub 500g weight was a projection from Thorston "the Brakemeister" on the brake board AFTER adding the aluminum rotors. Still VERY light!

did I read in an earlier post that your were going to use a mix of Ti and Al bolts on your rotors? If so how many of each, 3 and 3? I've been thinking about mixing in some Al bolts with the stock steel rotor bolts. I figure there are rotors with 4 hole patterns, so 2 or 3 Al bolts on a 6 hole pattern should be safe - using loctite and a torque wrench of course.
I do use 3 of each...AZ-X

I think it was either RockShox or Amp that used to use THREE bolt rotors (unfortunately, D8 will probably weigh in on this issue...), so using alternating Al and Ti or Al and steel should be fine. I use blue loc-tite on all the bolts.
