Michelin XLS and Stan's. Anyone ridding this setup?(2 posts)

Michelin XLS and Stan's. Anyone ridding this setup?notubie newbie

Looking to try Stan's setup. Since I'm a cheap bastard, I'm going with the tape setup. I'm a bit concerned about the possiblilty of bead separation. I own a set of Michelin Wildgripper XLS 2.1 tires and the sidewall look pretty beefy, when compared to a Python Airlight, so I was thinking of going with them.

Just looking to see if anyone has ridden the XLS' in a stan's setup and what they thought of the ride?

Also how low pressure can the XLS can be ridden (FYI - I weigh 175 lbs and ride technical XC with drops <18")?

Is 35 psi front and read asking for trouble?

>I tried stans on a xls rear(mavic 517 rim). Front was xl front on a mavic 221. BOTH tires blew off the rims (while not even moving!) The beads on both were ruined so bad they would`nt they won`t even work with tubes now! I did get 2 wknds out of the front and 1 wknd out of the rear. Both tires blew while the bike was sitting on the stand(instanly) at 35psi. The way the tires blew out got me thinking, what if I was on a 45mph downhill? (also both tires were folding beads) Good luck!
